In response to the heat wave, the City of Auburn has opened a cooling center at the Auburn Senior Activity Center located at 808 9th St. SE. Other cities are also opening cooling centers. A complete list can be found here, check back for updates as more cities open centers.

Congratulations to SCA Member Cities for their efforts in recycling! The Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA) will highlight outstanding recycling achievements May 14. Out of fourteen awards, nine were awarded to King County cities, haulers, schools and businesses.
o Jeanette Brizendine, City of Federal Way Recycling Project Manager received the Individual Recycler of the Year Award.
o The City of Shoreline was awarded the Public Agency Recycler of the Year award.
o The City of Issaquah was awarded the Innovative Recycler of the Year award.
